Gold in WorldSkills UK Technology Phill Bealle winner

The computing teaching team at Bedford College are celebrating winning gold at the World Skills UK LIVE finals for the Network Systems Administrator competition at Birmingham NEC held from November 21- 23rd.

Apprentice, turned employee Phil Beall, took first prize in the all-action event which is the UK’s largest skills, apprenticeship and careers event showcasing more than 70 industries including Digital, Technology, Engineering, Construction and Arts.

In addition, the Group’s Computing department along with 25 students hosted the Have a Go area at the event within the Digital, Business and Creative hub – demonstrating the variety of digital skills training and encouraging young people to sign up for courses at Further Education colleges.

The Bedford College Group Principal and CEO Ian Pryce said:

This is the second time Bedford College has won Gold in the highly competitive category of IT, we have had others reaching the UK finals in construction too. This demonstrates that when it comes to apprenticeships and training we are in the premier league and giving young people in the region access to the careers of tomorrow.
