In an ongoing commitment to the development of sport, Tresham College hosted Northampton Saints Academy Player Development Group U15’s and U16’s on Monday 12th February and Tuesday 13th February 2018 on the Kettering Campus Synthetic pitch.

The Player Development Groups identify and develop players based in the East Midlands and Eastern Counties. The coaching curriculum at these centres ensures that players who are aspiring to play for the Saints first team are suitably educated and equipped with the essential physical foundations for being a professional sportsman.

Players are then selected from the PDG to attend the Junior Saints Academy sessions which are based at Franklin’s Gardens, home of the Saints. The PDG programme is a major step onto the player development pathway.

Simon Sinclair (Northampton Saints Academy Manager) said;
“We are really pleased to take advantage of the excellent facilities that Tresham College offer and would like to thank them for allowing us to use the 3G surface. Having a good track to train on makes a big difference to the quality of the session, especially at this time of year.”

Dan Burns (Head of Tresham Academy of Sport) said:

We are committed to developing talent at Tresham, both in young people’s education and their sporting ambitions, so we are delighted to be able to host Northampton Saints Academy and provide our facilities to support young rugby players in developing and achieving their potential.

Tresham College are an RFU Focus College, committed to providing rugby opportunities to 16-19 year olds and offer a bespoke rugby academy at Kettering campus that provides students with the opportunity to balance their studies with their rugby development via weekly training sessions and match opportunities.
